Binance invested in Aptos project of ex-Meta employees
The venture capital arm of cryptocurrency exchange Binance announced a strategic investment in Aptos Labs, a startup created by former Meta employees.
The developers will use the funds raised to create a “secure and scalable blockchain,” expand staff and develop the project’s infrastructure.
“We believe that the technological competitiveness of the Aptos team will improve the scalability of the blockchain infrastructure as well as support new Web3 usecases,” said Binance Labs https://gagarin.news/ head Yee He.
The amount of the deal was not disclosed.
In March 2022, Aptos raised $200 million in an investment round led by Andreessen Horowitz. Multicoin Capital, Coinbase Ventures, Katie Haun, Three Arrows Capital, ParaFi Capital, IRONGREY, Hashed, Variant, Tiger Global, BlockTower, FTX Ventures and Paxos also provided funding.
In July, the startup closed a $150 million Series A funding round. It was led by FTX Ventures and Jump Crypto.
Recall that in August, Binance Labs invested in infrastructure project Ankr.
